A CHANCE FOR NICOSIA

About the Project: Nicosia is the last divided capital of Europe, but what if, we wake up tomorrow and this is not the case anymore? What would happen in the Buffer zone? In our concept we have tried to conceptualize a possible architectural solution. The buffer zone right now is a wound, a wound that could be healed and leave a scar in the middle of Nicosia. That is why we decided to Create a linear park with Installations and buildings that tell us a story and try to connect the people. The Ruined building are the first piece. The salvageable buildings will be in the park as ruins and others shall be restored as a monument to our history, Glass walls and stairs shall replace the barricades which will give a view to the new world that we have created together. The old river Pedieos shall also be restored and be a part of our park, the water and its healing powers shall help us solve our conflicts. Lastly the buildings that promote activities that we all can enjoy together like a Cinema and Hammam.
